For Old Times' Sake

Poker never went anywhere for me but I've continued visiting this site for the past few years (yay MMA threads). It's funny to see that my last blog post was in 2010...
I got a job about 1.5 years ago with an American company (still working in NZ) and finally pestered them enough to visit their HQ in California with paid flights and accommodation. I'm now on holiday on my own and where else am I but Vegas, woo.
It's pretty surreal to finally visit this place and do stuff like checking out the Bellagio fountains. I've got a ticket to O and I'm hoping to go to the Spearmint Rhino at some point to check out the place where LP legends blew their winnings. Longtime girlfriend said no lap dances tho
But yeah, cheers to visiting places from my memories of reading LP threads
The Idea
R_I, Apr 04 2010
I played 100 hu sngs recently to work on tilt control and see if I could build a roll off them. There were a few times I wanted to post one of the many suckouts but I just thought eff it, I made the correct decision so I think I made some progress in having the right mindset.
Still, losing a lot of times when I'm the favourite takes it toll (br-wise mostly) and I'm not really keen on the sng structure means I'm back to cash, starting at nl5.
Now onto the idea: I've noticed that with rush poker there's enough action so I get about $2 in rakeback per hour at nl5. If I was 4 tabling normally then that would be say 400 hands optimistically in an hour so $2 would actually be 5ptbb/100.
Some people might say that one should have a higher winrate at nl5 but tbh I'd be quite happy to have 5ptbb/100 in terms of hourly rate compared to normal 4 tabling. And that's just at breakeven rakeback so I should be able to make some more on top of that even with a mediocre winrate.
Lesse what happens this month as I put in some effort at nl5 rush pokers. I haven't given up poker despite losing constantly in the past cos one day in about 4 years time I do wanna go somewhere in Asia and grind even nl50 6 max for a few months and see what it's like.
From the Bottom Up

Sup guys, I'm restarting from NL5 and totally reworking my game based on just the Easy Game book so I dont level myself by watching tons of vids.
I'll be posting lots of hands from sessions with my thoughts based around applying the concepts from the book so if you think my thought process could be improved on any hands, please chip in.
Setting myself a pretty easy goal to play 20 hours of solid 4 tabling thinking poker for this month and also spending time to post hands and religiously reading and rereading chapters from the book. I especially have to watch my tilt and avoid playing more tables or wandering off to play hu sngs and other random stuff.
